Students who are in the third grade will take the English Language Arts Ohio State Assessment on Thursday, October 26 and Friday, October 27 at Katherine Thomas Elementary. The test is administered online and is split into two 90 minute testing sessions. This state assessment requires two administrations- one in the fall and one in the spring.  Students who are not in attendance on these days will take the test upon returning to school. This assessment is part of the Third Grade Reading Guarantee which ensures that every struggling reader gets the support that he or she needs to be able to learn and achieve more. 

The Ohio Deparmtent of Education states that "for the 2017-2018 school year, the Third Grade Reading Guarantee promotion score is 672. Any student who scores 672 or higher on the English language arts scaled score will be eligible for promotion at the end of the year. A student who scores 700 or higher on the English language arts scaled score is performing proficiently."

Like every school day, it is imperative that your child is in attendance. Encourage your child to get a good night's sleep and to eat a healthy breakfast on testing days.
